Sheep leather is a lightweight, flexible material manufactured from sheep hide. Unlike sheepskin, which preserves the wool, sheep leather loses the fur during the bleaching process. It is valued for its softness, making it suitable for high-end clothes such as jackets and accessories.
Sheep leather is the thinnest and lightest among commercial leathers. Its softness and velvety texture are key features, and it has small, distinct pores that are evenly spaced. Quality sheep leather has little to no smell, but poorly tanned leather may have a chemical or oily scent.
Of all the mass-produced leathers, sheep leather is the thinnest, typically ranging between 0.24 inches (5 to 6 millimeters). This thinness contributes to its lightness and softness, making it comfortable to wear.
We manufacture sheep leather with proper care under a certified and professional team. We have a specialized process for manufacturing sheep leather. We don't use chemical or machinery methods, we use mostly manual methods to manufacture sheep leather.Â
Firstly, we get rough sheep wool in rough conditions by cutting it at different angles. Then, we do the leather cutting process, divide into pieces, and start cleaning. We remove extra skin and dust from sheep wool. After the cleaning process, we start the tanning process with roller machine and refine the leather. We do the drying process with advanced machines and after drying we used to do the refining. Refining is the most satisfying step in the whole process. In refining, we used to do a proper color scheme and texture selection. We used just the upper layer of sheep leather because it is stronger and of real quality instead of the lower layers. At Riders Armor, we use real leather in all our jackets, ensuring quality and long-lasting durability. We manufacture leather in a clean and safe environment making sure that leather is real and of high quality.
Yes, sheep leather is really flexible and silky. Its silky texture and elasticity make it one among the most popular choices for luxury clothes. The soft grain structure lends it a unique, pleasant touch.
Though sheep leather is thinner than cow leather, it is windproof and can provide warmth, especially when worn over layers of clothing. While not as insulating as thicker leather, it still offers decent protection against the cold.
Sheep leather is not fully waterproof, but it is naturally resistant to moisture. Properly conditioned leather can withstand light showers, though it is not suitable for heavy rain.
Sheep leather is ideal for outerwear since it is light, flexible, and comfy. It has a velvety feel, making it enjoyable to wear while remaining durable. Sheep leather is windproof, making it ideal for cold weather, and it has a modern, fashionable appearance that will never go out of style.
At Riders Armor, we use high-quality sheep leather in our jackets to provide both comfort and long-lasting wear. Our jackets are designed to give you the best in style and practicality, perfect for any season.
